VIJAYAWADA: Telugu cine director Dileep Raja has announced that the shooting for Babuji cinema, a biographical film on the former deputy prime minister Babu Jagjivan Ram, is currently underway in Guntur. The director shared that pivotal scenes between Jagjivan Ram and his daughter Meira Kumar are currently being captured. He further revealed that senior film actress Talluri Rameshwari has been cast in the role of Meira Kumar, while the character of Jagjivan Ram is being portrayed by Military Prasad, a former serviceman of the Indian Army.

The director announced that the Jagjivan Ram movie is slated to release in all Indian languages on January 9. He emphasised the significance of several prominent figures in Indian history who play crucial roles in the film, including Gandhiji, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Babu Rajendra Prasad, Indira Gandhi, and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The director explained that actors from Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema have been carefully chosen to portray these historical personalities.

Dileep Raja added that filming of the scenes depicting Jagjivan Ram's father, Shobhi Ram, who served in the British Indian Army but later resigned due to ideological differences, will commence in Visakhapatnam's Errakondalu areas starting from Sunday. The role of Shobhi Ram will be played by former IAS officer Ramanjaneyulu.

The director added that since Chandwa village in Bihar is the native village of Jagjivan Ram, the set of the village was created without electricity, roads and concrete buildings. Babuji held various positions in the Parliament for the longest time in the world very effectively, he said and added that the historical moments of Babuji, who was jailed for two terms during the independence movement, were depicted with the most technical values in the movie.
