Vijayawada: November 14, 2017, will be the point of initiation for development of the film industry in the newly-formed state, AP. Another day in December is likely to be another milestone for the activity of the film industry in AP. The AP Film Development Corporation is doing groundwork for development of the film industry in the state. To begin with, they are planning a big event in Amaravati or Visakhapatnam.
As Nandi awards have been kept pending for the last five years, the AP Film Development Corporation is planning to begin its work with that event. Corporation chairman Ambica Krishna said they have finalised the winners of Nandi Awards, five years ago, which have been kept pending. On 14th November, chairman Ambica Krishna, along with Hindupur MLA Nanadmuri Balakrishna, will meet Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to finalise the date for Nandi Awards function. The date is likely to be in December itself.
The plan is to utilise the event to encourage the film industry begin their works in AP. Almost all the film actors, producers, directors are from Andhra Pradesh.
As the film industry had settled in Hyderabad and there are no such facilities in AP, they are hesitating to move now, as per sources. As all the film actors would attend the Nandi Awards function, the corporation wants to raise the issue and create an agenda for the development of the film industry in Andhra Pradesh. The focus of the industry will be on Visakhapatnam or Amaravati may be finalising within few days.
