After her Telugu debut with Heart Attack a couple of years ago and the recent hit film S/o Satyamurthy opposite Allu Arjun, Adah Sharma is now looking forward to her upcoming film Garam.
“I play a Muslim girl, Sameera, in this film. For most of the film (except songs) I wear a burkha, only my eyes betray my emotions. In fact I have only five dialogues in the entire film as I express everything through my eyes,” says Adah.
The film’s director Madan took her on board after seeing her in Heart Attack. “I think he liked my expressions in that film and chose me for this role. He was very clear about what he wanted. In this film I am not a typical Telugu heroine as he wanted me to be subtle,” adds Adah.
“My debut film Heart Attack is very special to me,” she says, adding, “But after it released, many had thought that I couldn’t dance. But later I gave live dance performances and proved them wrong. In this film I got a massy number. The character has a lot performance and at the same time there are dances too.”
She says that she was inspired by Manisha Koirala in Bombay for portraying this character. “As a kid I watched that film and Mani Ratnam characterised the role very well. At that time I had thought I would want to play a Muslim girl some day, and I finally got this opportunity now,” she says.
The actress is busy with another Telugu film, Kshanam. Besides Tollywood, she has been approached with a few Bollywood offers too.
“I have a superstition that I don’t talk about my projects till I have finished 15 days of shooting. I have a few projects and the production houses will reveal about them,” she says.
“I never plan my career, I take films when people approach me. I don’t have a strategy because I don’t know how to advertise or promote myself. So whatever roles I feel good about, I go with them,” says Adah.
When asked about her cameo in S/o Satyamurthy, she says that she never looks at the length of roles. “I wanted to work with Allu Arjun and Trivikram Sir, so I did that film,” she says.
Talking about her co-star Aadi, she says that he is a very sincere and hard working person. “I had thought that I was mad about practicing dances and scenes 100 times, but after I saw Aadi I changed my mind. He practices 200 times,” she says.
She adds that in her leisure time, she likes to paint. “I paint whatever comes to my mind. Not particularly anything. I paint shoes, bags and other things and give them to my friends,” she says.
