The war of words between Anasuya Bharadwaj and Vijay Deverakonda’s fans, which began way back in 2017 during the publicity campaign for the latter’s film Arjun Reddy, is continuing. Anasuya has now questioned the use of the qualifier ‘The’ before Vijay’s name in the poster of his upcoming film Kushi.
“Ippude okati chusanu.. “The” na?? Babooooiii!!! Paityam.. enchestam.. antakunda chuskundam” (I just noticed something. “The” too much ...We stay away from such ‘overacting’ guys.) she tweeted on Friday.
In 2017, the actress had publicly objected to Vijay’s use of cuss words while promoting Arjun Reddy. Last year, she had posted a cryptic tweet after Vijay’s film Liger bombed at the box office. Vijay’s fans had taken exception to the criticism on both occasions.
When contacted after her latest tweet, the actress said that back in 2017, she had expressed what she felt, as a mother or senior person. “I wanted him to be more responsible,” she said. And in the present instance, she said she felt the prefix ‘The’ was overdoing things, as even the biggest stars did not use such terms. But she clarified that more than finding fault, her tweet was an attempt to pull Vijay’s leg.
Anasuya said she was expecting an adverse reaction to her latest tweet from Vijay’s fans, who, she said, had been constantly abusing and body shaming her, and even bringing her family into the picture. Stressing that she is not going to normalise such behaviour, the actress said, “We did not come here (to the industry) to take this (trolling and abuse). People need to understand that after pack-up, I come back home and lead life just like any other woman.”
Expressing the view that “all these abusers may not be fans, some might be adopting the guise of fans,” Anasuya said, “but I will not give up. I say he (Vijay) should at least make a statement or tweet so that his fans become more responsible.”
