Akkineni Nagarjuna's much-hyped and upcoming film ‘Naa Saami Ranga’ reportedly signed a fancy deal with Disney Hotstar and its billed to be one of the highest deals in the recent times. “The digital rights of ‘Naa Saami Ranga’ has been sold for Rs 18 crore and it is a record price for a Telugu film in recent times,” says a source and adds, “Nagarjuna charisma and ratings are intact so digital platforms are paying big and they are confident of recovering through new subscriptions and repeat viewers,” he concludes.
No doubt, the remake of Malayalam film ‘Naa Saami Ranga’ raised expectations in the industry and also billed to be one of the much-awaited films this Sankranthi festival. “Nagarjuna insisted on retaining the original flavor of Malayalam film ‘Porinju Mariam Jose’ since Malayalam films are known for their rusticity and raw emotions. He went in for a complete makeover and going to showcase his fiery side,’ he adds.
The scion of Akkineni family has tasted big success with rural-centric movies like ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ and ‘Bangaraju’ in the past and hoping to repeat the magic again. “He has become a household name among the people in rural areas of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh since his lungi-clad avatar is winning him more fans and molaah too,” he concludes.
