3D theatre opens at Krishna Menon Museum

Inspired from the success of the one installed at Thrissur Zoo.

KOZHIKODE: “All the districts will have a heritage museum each soon”, said Minister for Ports, Museums, Archaeology and Archives Ramachandran Kadannappally. He was speaking after inaugurating the state-of-the-art 3D theatre at Krishna Menon Museum at East Hill in the city on Friday. The 3D theatre is inspired from the success of the 3D theatre installed two years ago at Thrissur Zoo, by the department of Museums and Zoos. The minister said that similar makeovers would be introduced to all the Government-owned museums in the State to attract more people. “Building a theatre at Krishna Menon museum is our first step towards improving the facility of the museum, which has been neglected by the public for quite a long time”, he said.

MK Raghavan MP, presided over the inaugural ceremony and both the minister and MP watched the first show of the theatre wearing 3D glasses. The air-conditioned theatre has a seating capacity of 100 and a 200 inch metallic silver screen with 7.1 DTS sound system. The museum has been built by the Kerala State Industrial Enterprises in one year at a cost of Rs 3.36 crore. For the convenience of viewers, the theatre has a passive 3 D system. It will screen movies related to history, wildlife documentaries, environment, heritage, monuments and also short films to create awareness among visitors, between 10 am and 5 pm and the entry is restricted through special passes provided by the the museum.
