Kannada filmmaker Prashanth Neel, is next only to ace Telugu director S S Rajamouli, in pan-India appeal and for delivering Rs 1000 crore hit movies. If ‘Baahubali’ and ‘RRR’ turned Rajamouli into the most popular director across the world, Prashanth proved his mettle with ‘KGF’ and ‘KGF 2’ to get closer to the ratings of Telugu directors. Now, another common connection between these two directors is superstar Prabhas, who joined hands with Prasanth Neel for ‘Salaar’.
“Every top Telugu hero wanted to work with Prashanth after “KGF’ storm. Prompting many Telugu producers to approach him with fancy offers but he wasn’t in a hurry,” says a producer, who approached him for a big star. “He told me that he would get back to us after getting the right script, however, evinced interest to work with big Telugu stars,” he adds.
Among six to seven offers, Prashanth teamed up with reigning star NTR Jr which was launched recently with Jhanvi Kapoor playing the female lead. It will be another pan-India film and it will be an action-driven extravaganza. "Prashanth is next only to Rajamouli in popularity ratings across the world, and also delivering films loaded with machismo,” the producer concludes.
