Half Mentlu movie review: Half Mentlu, full mental torture

Those who have managed to survive this fiasco feel, it's a “never endingâ€painful love story.

The director and lead actor of this film have done one thing right — choosing an apt title Half Mentlu. Infact, there could not have been a more appropriate name for a film that highlights its shoddy making and the sad plight of the unknowing audience who watched a bit too much of it. Essentially, the film is a two hour struggle and complete mental torture. Those who have managed to survive this fiasco feel, it’s a “never ending” painful love story.

Shivu, looks and behaves psychologically abnormal. A loner, he is brought up by his mother and his life revolves around his mother. With no real experience of love and life, he accidentally comes across an aspiring musician Madhu played by Sonu Gowda. The torture then continues in the director’s warped version of a real-life love-story marred with totally indigestible sexist dialogues.

With no exception, Shivu gets into a half mentlu state after falling in love with Madhu. The first half leaves one wondering if Shivu has gone mad after losing the love of his life. However, the mental agony continues as neither is Madhu is dead, nor is the film’s innate boredom given any respite.

After accidentally breaking a photo frame belonging to Madhu, Shivu tries to win her back. He loses his mother and on the other hand, Madhu too had lost her mother and this emotional umbilical cord with the mother bring the two of them closer. However, some villains who had once had a fight with Shivu kidnap her, and Shivu is devastated. A love story of such sheer ineptness dedicated to all half mentlu’s with utmost sincerity by the director, watch it at your own risk!
