What to Watch for Week ending May 31

The OTT platforms continue to lure all alike - from contemporary actors like Sonakshi Sinha to veterans like Dimple Kapadia have recently debuted on the streamers and continue to vow their fans. Accordingly, more content is on the anvil on various OTTs to keep you engaged and enthralled.

Netflix

Remember the story wherein cops were made to hunt for the missing animal of a politician? If not, ‘Kathal’ is all set to refresh your memory. Releasing on May 19, Friday, Sanya Malhotra plays a cop who is busy looking for a jackfruit stolen from the tree of a locally influential person.

Telugu movie ‘Virupaksha’, which had a theatrical release last month and got quite a few good reviews, debuts on Netflix on May 21. The supernatural thriller stars Sai Dharam Tej.

On May 23, Manoj Bajpayee is back with another story on Zee5. He plays a lawyer in ‘Sir Ek Banda Kaafi Hai’, a drama inspired by true events which speaks about a long-drawn legal battle against a godman.

An out-and-out family drama ‘Abar Kanchanjungha’ will be released on May 26, Friday. The Bengali movie has been directed by Raajoshree De and stars Rupankar Bagchi and Rahul Banerjee among others.

Coronavirus has been a life-changing event and hence continues to inspire a slew of creations. First, ‘India Lockdown’, then ‘Bheed’ and now Malayalam movie ‘Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham’ will be released on SonyLiv on May 19, Friday. The movie has been directed by Muhasin.

This week will see another cop series. Starring Randeep Hooda, ‘Inspector Avinash’ will stream on JioCinema from May 18, Thursday. It has been written and directed by Neeraj Pathak.

Disney+Hotstar

The highly-awaited Season 3 of the political drama ‘City of Dreams’ will premiere on May 26, Friday. The popular series stars Priya Bapat, Atul Kulkarni, Sachin among others.

Written and directed by Kannada filmmaker Dayal Padmanabhan, Tamil movie ‘Maruthi Nagar Police Station’, a crime drama revolving around friendship, will stream from May 19, Friday. The movie also marks the Tamil OTT debut of Varalakshmi Sarathkumar.

Directed by Sourav Chakraborty, ‘Rajneeti’ premiers on May 26. ‘Rajneeti’ is the story Raashi who loses her memory and a political drama unfolds as she regains it.
