A brand new show taking you back to the early years of the entertainment industry, a few thrillers as usual and you are set for the weekend and week ahead. Let’s see what is in store for OTT viewers this week.
Netflix
Chupa, which begins streaming on the platform from April 7, focuses on a teenaged kid who finds entangled in an adventure when visiting a family in Mexico. On Friday, other releases are ‘Transatlantic’, ‘Oh Belinda’, and ‘Thicker than Water’. ‘Transatlantic’ is a limited series set against the backdrop of WWII. ‘Oh Belinda’ is a Turkish comedy that tells us the story of a young actor and what happens when she does a shampoo commercial. ‘Thicker than Water’ is a French crime thriller revolving around a journalist and her attempts to shield her brother from the law.
The platform will see only one release on Saturday. ‘Hunger’ is a Thai move about a young cook’s apprenticeship to train herself in a “kitchen where there is no democracy. Only dictatorship.”
Sunday too will have a solo release. Based on a book, ‘A man called Otto’ stars Tom Hanks. The movie is about a retiree who plots his own demise but it is foiled by a lively young family.
Wednesday will be a chilling reminder of the Boston bombings as Netflix drops ‘American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing’.
Two releases are lined up for Thursday, April 13. ‘Obsession’ is based on a book and features Richard Armitage, Charlie Murphy, Indira Varma and Rish Shah. The steamy and suspenseful drama deals with a London surgeon’s affair with his son’s fiancée.
Described as offbeat and suspenseful by the streamer ‘Florida Man’ is a about a disgraced policeman and a treasure hunt. It stars the fabulous Édgar Ramírez who audiences will remember from series like ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story’ and ‘Wasp Network’.
The week closes with the British period drama ‘Seven Kings Must Die’ which tells us the story of a fractured kingdom after the death of England’s King Edward.
Prime Video
Prime Video has started airing ‘Jubilee’. As the name suggests it deals with the entertainment industry of the yore. The show will be in two parts. Currently first part is on air, while the second part will be released on April 14.

SonlyLiv has three new shows to offer. A dance reality show called ‘India’s Best Dancer’ will start from April 8. Dealing with the familiar theme of a royal falling in love with a commoner is ‘Wo Aam Hai au Aap Khaas’. It stars Kitu Gidwani among others. The show starts from April 10. On the same day, another series ‘Challang’ will also premier.

Radhika Apte is back sleuthing. She is a housewife who doubles up as an undercover agent of Special Force. Besides Radhika, the movie has Sumeet Vyas. It premiers on April 14. On the same day, Bengali movie headlined by Mithun Chakraborty ‘ Projapati’ will be released. Besides him, it has Dev. The third release of the day is Gippy Grewal’s ‘Mitran Da Naa Chalda’. It’s story of Laadli and her attempts to help women trying to fight sexual harassment case.

New episodes of Telugu Indian Idol 2 will be aired on April 7 and 8 and April 12 and 13th. Natural Star Nani is set to appear as a special guest for a special SBP tribute episode.
Based on a man’s story, who is first avoided and neglected by everyone, But later, the same people welcome him is ‘Posters’, aha Direct film releasing on April 7.
On the same day, Friday, releases ‘Burqa’, which has four characters, is set against a Muslim ritual that not many people are familiar with. The one hour-20 minute film, directed by Sarjun K.M., revolves around 21-year-old Najma (Mirnaa), who meets a stranger, Suriya (Kalaiyarasan), under unlikely circumstances.
