DJ Dimitri Vegas, who performs at Sunburn NYE today in city with Like Mike, talks about his musical journey.

Hyderabad: Two of the biggest names in electronic music, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, will be live at the Hitex Exhibition Centre in the city on Sunday as part of the Ola Sunburn NYE. While thousands of fans are waiting to groove to their tunes, Dimitri Vegas talks to us about how it all started. The World No. 2 DJ duo have been in the music scene since their childhood days.

Sunburn is amongst the world’s biggest music festivals, it made it’s debut in 2007 as a three-day music festival.

“Ever since we were kids, we have been into music. For a brief period, I did consider acting, but it was music that attracted me more. I have been DJing since I was 12 years old. While my brother, Like Mike, was more into hip-hop music, I was into EDM,” says Dimitri.

Talking about the EDM scene in India, he says, “The EDM scene is amazing. I have been playing in India since the past 10 years and it’s always special. Performing in Pune on Friday was good, but the Hyderabad crowd is very energetic and I am looking forward to give my best. We are going to present lots of news music this time, especially our tracks with Snoop Dogg.”

India has a special place in their hearts. Says Dimitri, “I love Salman Khan, he’s a great guy. I love the time I spend here and we were hanging out in Mumbai only yesterday. The food here is awesome and my favourite dish is mutton rogan josh! I enjoy Bollywood music and would love to collaborate with artistes in India.”

From performing at Tomorrowland, one of the world’s largest music festivals, to releasing hit tracks such as Tremor, Mammoth, Higher Place, The Hum and Crowd Control, the Belgium duo have always stayed on top of the charts. “We are dropping a big single, When I grow up, tomorrow. There are many other music projects we are working on. Meanwhile, I am also entering the movie industry. I have a major role in George A. Romero’s film series Living Dead. Personally, I am a huge fan of Game of Thrones,” Dimitri says.

However, does it get difficult to find work-life balance? “My wife, Mattn, is a DJ and tours along with us. Mike’s girlfriend is into music too, so we have been lucky that way! But we have been touring so much lately, I haven’t had the time to even chill and listen to some music,” Dimitri says.

Dance music lovers in the city are set to experience New Year with surprise acts and world class fireworks and SFX giving them a festival experience, add Rishi Agarwal and Sanjay Gupta of Global entertainment.
