Age no bar: Sini Abraham

Sini Abraham is a mother of three, but that has not stopped her from pursuing an active career in films.

At an age when most actresses look for a comeback, Sini Abraham, mother of three, is essaying remarkable performances with her short but noticeable roles on the silver screen. Sini was stunning as the seductive manager in Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kali and the mahout’s wife in Ranjith's Leela.

A village girl from Payyannur in Kannur, Sini’s entry into the world of glamour was unexpected, that too after the birth of her third child. “After my marriage, we were settled in New Delhi and once I came to Kerala for a baby show with my son, I met Hari P. Nair, the producer of that show.

“He actually encouraged me to pursue a career in modelling and films. After we settled in Payyannur nine years back, I did my first commercial with Kaviyoor Ponnamma. Soon I conceived my daughter and for the next six years I didn’t do anything. I recently became active with a jewellery ad which I did with my daughter,” says Sini.

Later she did advertisements for many leading brands and also video folios. It was through Kali’s associate director Binil Babu, Sini got selected for the movie. “Though I debuted with House Full and then did Mathai Kuzhappakaranalla, I got noticed after the role in Kali. It was a wonderful experience working with Dulquer and Sai Pallavi. Obviously I was nervous when acting with them especially the party scene, but they encouraged me to do it confidently. Leela was also a good experience where my getup is entirely different,” she adds.

Sini’s husband Abraham Joseph is a captain in merchant navy and a noted photographer. “It was the encouragement from my husband and kids Antonio, Aangello and Aangelina, which helped me try my luck in films. I believe it is not possible for a housewife to choose this career without support from family,” adds Sini. Her mother-in-law was also a theatre artiste in Delhi. Daughter Aangelina has also marked her presence with roles in Mathai Kuzhappakaranalla and Aadupuliyattam. “A few projects are in the pipeline and I hope some of them would definitely turn out to be good and challenging,” says Sini.
