THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:- Actor turned BJP MP Suresh Gopi was quizzed by the Crime Branch here on Thursday in connection with registration of his two luxury cars in Puducherry using allegedly using fake documents with the motive of evading the higher tax in Kerala. Though the MP maintained that he had a rented building in Puducherry since 2009 and he owned agriculture land there, he failed to submit the genuine documents in support of the address used for registering the vehicles. The Crime Branch gave him more time to submit records. A team led by Crime Branch IG S. Sreejith and SP Santosh K.V. quizzed the actor.

Though the actor earlier approached High Court seeking anticipatory bail, the court directed him to appear before the investigation team, but restricted his arrest. According to sources, Suresh’s two vehiciles were registered in Puducherry to evade tax to the tune of Rs 30 lakh. One was registered in 2010 and the other in 2010. He maintained that he had a rented building in Puducherry since 2009 as he owned agriculture land there. “We are yet to get any convincing proof of the MP having a vadid residential address in there. Also the persons who rented the buildings need to be found to check the veracity," CB sources said.
