Kochi: The Rs 1,000-crore mythological epic based on M. T. Vasudevan Nair’s Randamoozham will be named after the novel in Malayalam, but it will be Mahabharata based on Randamoozham in other languages. The shooting of the film will begin in Abu Dhabi in May next year, producer B.R. Shetty said in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

He said elaborate sets will be erected in the Gulf emirate for the shooting of the multi-lingual project in which Mohanlal will play the lead. “We will even create a forest,” Dr Shetty said. “I didn’t come here with money; so every dirham and fils was earned here in Abu Dhabi for the last 43 years,” he said, explaining why he chose the location for the film, to be directed V. A. Sreekumar Menon. “This is my way to pay it back to this country.”
