Raising a toast to womanhood

The project introduces a woman director Nayana who has been involved with the technical side of filmmaking.

In a first, a cinema brings together the crème-de-la-creme of Malayalam’s popular female actors. Told through 11 different stories, the portmanteau film is to be directed by 11 renowned directors in Malayalam. Titled Crossroads, the film will have Mamta Mohandas, Parvathy, Padmapriya, Srinda Arhaan, Sruthi Menon and Priyanka together with Richa Panai and Isha Talwar appear in different roles along with three more actors as leading ladies.

“Eleven films represent that many emotions and situations of women. All movies are female centric with no male lead in any. The directors who are part of the movie have won either national or international acclaim. We plan a January release,” says Sashi Paravoor, one of the directors who is part of the project.

Pimbe Nadappaval (Lenin Rajendran), Badar (Asok R. Nath), Lake House (Sashi Paravoor), Kaaval (Nemom Pushparaj), Maya (Albert), Oru Rathriyude Kooli (Madhupal), Quotation (Pradeep Nair), Maunam (Babu Thiruvalla), Cherivu (Avira Rebecca), Pakshikalude Manam (Nayana Sooriyan) and an untitled Rajeev Ravi movie complete the fold. The project introduces a woman director Nayana who has been involved with the technical side of filmmaking. She worked as an assistant director for a while. The film is produced under the banner of Forum for Better Films, chaired by Lenin Rajendran.
