I can't remain a bachelor: Vishal

During the teaser launch of the film Thupparivaalan, the actor spoke about his marriage plans and more.

Many here want me to live like the late great leader Kamaraj. Though I know that I’m not fit enough to be compared with him, I will strive to be selfless and honest in my life like Kamaraj ayya. However, I cannot remain a bachelor like him. If I do, the actress named after Lakshmi (obviously, he meant Varalaxmi, and the duo has been courting each other for the last few years) would come and hold my shirt collar in anger (laughs),” remarked Vishal, at the teaser launch of his upcoming movie, Thupparivaalan, directed by Mysshkin.

True to the character of an investigating officer which he plays in Thupparivaalan, Vishal made a declaration about the increasing piracy rate in Tamil films. “The detective in me has found out who he is and I also know where he is. This is something related to piracy — and within the next two weeks, I will show you all and reveal the person.”

On the issue of entertainment tax levied on Tamil films, which is still not sorted out, Vishal said, “We have a meeting with the government on July 24. We hope to sort it out amicably. Not only the ticket prices, we want to reduce prices from popcorn to parking fees.”

Talking about Thupparivaalan, he says, “Mysshkin and I have been talking for the last eight years regarding collaboration, but things didn’t materialise. When the film happened, many wondered how these two psychos are doing a film together (laughs)... Jokes apart, Thupparivaalan is one of the most important films in my career, and will stand out among the films produced under my banner VFF. Mysshkin is a treasure I have found in my life.”

As we ask him what’s in store for the celebrations in the centenary year of legendary MGR, founder of Nadigar Sangam, and pat comes his reply — “We planned earlier to celebrate it in a big way and around the time, a lot of untoward incidents happened in the state, like Sasikala Amma and TTV Dinakaran being caught in predicaments. We want things to settle down first.”

Vishal also said that Nadigar Sangam and he, as an actor, would stand by Kamal Haasan, who is in the thick of controversy for his bold political remarks.
