A R Rahman clarifies rumours about Superstar Rajinikanth singing

One may recall Rajini has lent his voice for a song in Kochadaiyaan composed by AR Rahman.

The city was abuzz with reports that two legends of Tamil cinema, Superstar Rajinikanth and Oscar Winner AR Rahman will be sharing the dais for the latter’s music concert Encore and Rajini singing live on stage for the first time. Rahman is celebrating 25 years of his musical journey with a multi-city tour ‘Encore – The Concert’ with its final show scheduled to take place in Delhi on December 23 at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex. And this is where our Kabali star was speculated to go live with his vocals with the Mozart of Madras for the very first time.

One may recall Rajini has lent his voice for a song in Kochadaiyaan composed by AR Rahman, which was more on a philosophical tone in a recital form. He did this for the Tamil as well as the Hindi version. However, when DC contacted AR Rahman who was rehearsing with his team said, “It’s a felicitation and tribute for YG Parthasarathy, the great theatre personality for his 100th birth anniversary which is organised by Madhuvanthi Arun, his granddaughter who is the daughter of actor and theatre personality YG Mahendran.” The Roja composer added, “Rajinikanth sir might join the felicitation, but he won’t be singing!” Earlier when we contacted Madhuvanthi Arun of Maham Enterprises, the promoter of the concert, she stated that she was clueless about the rumour of Rajinikanth singing.
