Popular model Archana Sree makes her debut in Tamil with a yet-to-be-titled film directed by Kannan. Like his mentor Mani Ratnam, Kannan is particular about choosing actors. While Gautam Karthik, Shraddha Srinath, and RJ Balaji have been roped in, the director was looking for a fresh face for the vital role of an investigating officer in the action thriller.
Says Archana, “I have done several ads, including one with actor Karthi recently. I had trained myself before coming to tinsel town, and was keen on debuting in a Tamil film. One day I got a call from Kannan sir’s office and went for the audition — when I came to know that 29 girls had already been auditioned! He said that he had seen some of my ads, but insisted that I do the test shoot.”
Kannan continues, “She has the right body language and perfect expressions when she performed during the test shoot. I was impressed.”
When asked if she has any action scenes, the leggy girl says that Brindha (her character’s name) uses her brain rather than brawn — “She is an intelligent lady — and how she solves an intricate case using her cleverness is what my character is about.”
Talking about Karthi with whom she completed a commercial, she says, “Karthi was down to earth and had no airs despite being a big artiste. He was very supportive. It was a nice experience.” Archana says that she is looking forward to start shooting, which is commencing on October 11 in the city.
