Ram realises two-decade-old dream

Peranbu, produced by PL Thenappan, is Ram and Yuvan Shankar Raja's fourth collaboration.

It’s taken me more than 20 years to make a film with Mammootty sir,” remarked national award-winning filmmaker Ram at the audio launch of his upcoming flick Peranbu. The film, which has already done the rounds of the international circuit, documents the life of a spastic child (played by baby Sadhana) and the struggles that she and her father (Mammootty) face. It also features Anjali and Anjali Ameer in crucial roles.

At the event, Ram continued to rave about Mammooty, saying, “I watched Mammootty sir’s film Sukrutham in the mid-90s when I was in grade 12. Then itself, I decided that I wanted to work with him if I become a director. My dream has been realised only now.”

Actress Anjali said, “Right from my debut, Ram sir has given me beautiful characters to play. My 10-year-old film career is owed to him. I was nervous about share screen space with Mammootty sir, but it was a great learning experience.”

Peranbu, produced by PL Thenappan, is Ram and Yuvan Shankar Raja’s fourth collaboration. Several top K-town filmmakers including Bala, Bharathiraja, Ameer, K.S. Ravikumar, Mysshkin, Vetri Maaran, Sasi, Samdhrakani, and actors like Siddarth and Andrea graced the film’s audio-launch event with their presence.
