Prabhudheva to learn Kung fu!

Director MS Arjun reveals the plot of his debut film Yung Mung Sung, featuring Prabhudheva.

Prabhudheva who started off as a choreographer and later donned the greasepaint and director’s hat, will be seen as a stunt master in his upcoming Tamil movie Yung Mung Sung where he romances Lakshmi Menon. MS Arjun, a former assistant to Mundasupatti Ram says, “The title is an acronym of Yenganarayan played by (Prabhudheva) Mangalam (RJ Balaji) and Shankar (Ashwin). It is a period film set in 1987 and on the lines of several martial arts films starring Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan’s and Jet Lee’s. And with lot of local flavor and loads of comedy!”

Talking about Prabhudheva, he said, “The story is about how the trio goes to China, especially to learn the Shaolin form of Kung fu — so that back home, they can take revenge on their enemies. There’s a suspense element to it! Prabhudheva sir’s flair for comedy is a known fact. The movie also has an emotional segment towards the end, and Prabhu has simply done a great job. Again, without his quirky dance numbers, the film is incomplete. The opening song in Amrish’s composition has come out exceptionally well.”

The director says that Lakshmi Menon was given two months’ time and has shed a few kilos before joining the shoot. “She plays Yamuna, a Bharatanatyam dancer.”

Thangar Bachchan essays the comical role of Prabhu Deva’s dad. Baahubali fame Prabhakar (who played Kaalakeya) has been roped in as the villain for the flick. Veteran art director Raju who has been working since the 1980s, handles production design.

The unit will be traveling to China in the coming months where Prabhu Deva and others will take training from real masters in Kung fu, and also can a few scenes at virgin locales.
