Can Lawrence Pull Off Rajini's Swag in Chandramukhi 2?

The trailer of the Tamil film 'Chandramukhi 2' is out and it is being dubbed into Telugu with the same name. Choreographer-turned-actor Raghava Lawrence is seen in the role of a wicked king which was played by superstar Rajnikanth in the original 'Chandramukhi' 17 years ago.

"The popular dialogue 'Laka Laka Laka' rendered stylishly by Rajinikanth and his swag after beheading his rival, has been etched in the minds of Telugu people. So Lawrence who plays the king this time has a task on hand to draw in Telugu audience in big numbers," says a distributor, who claims that 'Chandramukhi 2' has been bought for Rs 10 crores in the two Telugu states. 'It is a fancy price and it has to draw huge openings on first and second in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to recover its investment, otherwise, it will be a challenge," he adds.

But actor Lawrence has tasted success with horror comedies like "Ganga', 'Kanchana 2' and 'Shivalinga' which minted money in the two Telugu states. "In films like 'Kanchana' he played a coward who dreads ghosts but later becomes friendly with them after going through some sleepless nights in the film. His innocence and his comedy scenes with his mother(Kovai Sarala) have been well received by youth and kids in Telugu states," he points out.

However, now Lawrence becomes a fearless savior in Chandramukhi 2 wherein he has to locate and evict a ghost with his professional experience. "Rajinikanth roles are always difficult to reprise. He makes even tough scenes believable and can crack a joke to evoke laughs. Lawrence has to recreate Rajini magic in this upcoming horror thriller to score a winner," he concludes.
