It appears Tamil filmmakers are catching up with the Bollywood trend of writing female centric scripts. After Jyothika and more recently Varalaxmi, young actress Nandita Sweta takes on a straight forward cop avatar for a film interestingly titled IPC 376.
Nandita steps into a character in the high action suspense thriller usually portrayed by heroes. Ace stunt choreographer Super Subbarayan, besides acting in a crucial role in the film, also composes high octane action sequences.
At a time when films degrading women are being made in K’town, IPC 376 is for women, claims its director Ramkumar Subbaraman, a former assistant of Prabhu Solomon and Balasekaran. He adds, “I am sure you would have guessed the story line from the title denoting punishment given to those who indulge in the heinous crime of rape. But, beyond that one cannot guess the proceedings as it has lot of twists and turns. The film also highlights an important issue.”
Nandita who essays an inspector is said to have undergone rigorous training. Produced by Prabhakar, the first look was recently unveiled by the makers.
