Dark comedy hasn’t been explored enough in Tamil cinema, and only a few films in this genre, such as Soodhu Kavvum and Moodar Koodam, have been successful. The latest filmmaker to try his hand at it is Jayaprakash, whose upcoming film is titled Vinveli Payana Kurippugal.
Advik Jalandar, a student of the Balu Mahendra Acting School, makes his debut as the hero of the film, and theatre artist Pooja Ramakrishnan plays the female lead.
The story revolves around an illiterate youth from a small town who uses his political clout to gain popularity. But everything he touches turns into a mess. And just when the people of his town have had enough of his buffoonery, he announces his plans to explore space.
“I am confident that audiences will be receptive to a well-made dark comedy,” Jayaprakash says. Self-defence expert Jogikumar has been roped in to play a crucial role in the film, and Ganesh Raghavendra is the music composer.
