Female composers hardly make a foray into tinsel town. But recently, we saw teenager Swathmika making her debut as a music composer in the film Antony. Now, yet another young composer Chandra Sathyaraj is debuting with a romantic movie Oora Kaanom.
Directed by A.R. Anand, who gave films like Sevili and Mohana, the movie is based on a poignant, true love story that took place in a Tamil Nadu village situated in the Western Ghats belt. Birla, Sha and Pavithra are the lead actors in it.
“I came across this heart wrenching romance and some shocking incidents that occurred to the couple. I have shot the important scenes in the actual locations,” reveals Anand.
On roping in a new composer Chandra, he said, “I wanted a native feel for the music and a fresh sound. Chandra fitted the bill and she has given beautiful songs. And I have even brought on board two female lyricists — Parimaladevi and Priya Krishnan.”
