Adding another feather to their steaming caps, Telugu superstars NTR Jr and Ram Charan have been invited by the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences to join as new members along with 398 others including world renowned artists like Taylor Swift, Paul Mescal and Austin Butler.
Along with lead actors of RRR, Oscar winning composer M M Keeravani and song writer Chandrabose besides production designer Sabu Cyril and ace cinematographer K K Senthil Kumar have also been extended invitations to join the membership. According to Variety.com, if all the members accept the invitations, it will bring the total members to 10,817(up from 10,665 last year) with 9,375 eligible to vote for the 96th Oscars, set to take place on March 10, 2024.
Interestingly, ace director S S Rajamouli, the brain behind the magnum opus RRR, is missing from the invite list. Nonetheless, the bearded director has changed the face of Telugu cinema and catapulted Telugu movies to the centre-stage of world cinema.
