Tom Cruise goes sanskaari for CBFC in India

All of the movie's cuss words have been removed to make the action movie palatable to a universal audience.

The much-awaited Tom Cruise starrer, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, has been given the complete clean up treatment by the Central Board for Film Certification, before it releases in India. All of the movie’s cuss words have been removed to make the action movie palatable to a universal audience. Some of these cuts include culling out words such as “prick”, “d**khead”, “d**k” and “f**k”, all of which have been cleaned out of the soundtrack.

And no, Tom can’t call a woman the ‘B’ word either. A shot of the actor showing the middle finger, too, has been cut out. According to sources, Tom has been given the sanskaari treatment by the CBFC since he’s a global phenomenon. “Tom Cruise is an international icon, by far the biggest star in the world, and one of the most revered actors,” says an informed source. “The CBFC wanted kids to watch his new film. Therefore, they cleaned out all the cuss words.”

Curiously, the CBFC has also chopped off a line where Tom says, “His a** is mine.” The source adds, “They probably did not know it is a common threat for putting an adversary in his place. However, the film’s producers, Viacom 18, are not complaining. They’re happy to release Jack Reacher with the required audio deletions, as they don’t affect the film at all.”
