FIR lodged against Shilpa Shetty and husband Raj Kundra in Rs 24 lakh cheating case

The husband-wife duo is alleged to dump a textile firm owner for Rs 24 lacs.

Mumbai: An FIR has been filed in Thane’s Bhiwandi police station against Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her Husband Raj Kundra in a cheating case.

The husband-wife duo is alleged to dump a textile firm owner for Rs 24 lacs.

“FIR has been registered in Bhiwandi police station against Shetty and Kundra under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of IPC,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil was quoted as saying to a tabloid.

“The FIR was filed after a Bhiwandi textile unit owner alleged that the couple collected the amount on his behalf but did not pay him,” a police official told the tabloid.

"Big Deals, a company in which Shetty and Kundra are directors, collected money from customers for sale of bedsheets on behalf of Malotia Textiles through TV ads, but did not (allegedly) pay Malotia Textiles the proceeds,” the official said.

However, Raj Kundra denied these allegations and said, "The vendor is misusing his connections in various stations. This is a civil matter and an abuse of the law.We have tight contracts signed and on the contrary, the vendor owes us money for not fulfilling orders. Best deal company is, unfortunately, being wound up due to the business failing and we are following the laws of the land to close the various matters properly. It's sad that at every step of the way my wife's name is dragged in to create media hype. She was a non-executive, who had nothing to do with the daily running of the business."

According to the same tabloid, Raj Kundra who still remains to be on the board of directors with a 63 per cent stake in the company along with Shilpa Shetty Kundra, had sent his resignation via email on December 15. "I would like to officially resign as CEO of Best Deal TV. All good things come to an end, I guess," he had written.

The company had terminated its service in December 2015. Since then it never started their services.
