Aamir finally breaks his silence on demonitisation at Geeta Phogat's wedding

The actor has been measuring his words in public post the 'intolerance' fiasco.

Mumbai: Post last year's fracas surrounding his comments on prevalent intolerance in the country, Aamir Khan has been measuring his words in public very pedantically.

The actor who's been avoiding commenting on the boiling demonitisation wave in the country, finally made his stance amply clear.

The actor, who skipped the Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai to be at Geeta Phogat's wedding, was interacting with the media, when one of him prompted him to opine on the issue. Aamir categorically said, "I will not comment on this matter."

Aamir helped the Phogats, on whose inspiring life his upcoming Christmas release, 'Dangal,' is based, with their gifts. "As far as cash for the wedding is concerned, I had no issues. All my cash is in the bank and payments were made in cheque," NDTV quoted Aamir as saying.

Aamir, earlier, had facetiously said at a song launch that demonitisation didn't affect him since he had no cash on him. However, the actor never officially commented on the issue.

Geeta married fellow wrestler Pawan Kumar in Haryana. The film is scheduled to release on December 23. Aamir will be seen playing her father, Mahavir Phogat in the film. His on-screen spouse Sakshi Tanwar as well as Sanya Malhotra were present at the wedding.
