Exclusive: Phillauri's Mehreen Kaur Pirzada didn't even know when she was auditioned

The actress has a fantastic lineup of releases this year including the much talked about Phillauri.

Mehreen Kaur Pirzada is on cloud nine for she’ll soon be seen in the Hindi film, Phillauri, with Anushka Sharma. Mehreen is smartly balancing her projects down South as well. She is quite enthused to be pitied opposite Ravi Teja in her next Telugu film Raja The Great directed by Anil Ravipudi, the shooting of which will begin in April. A 30-day long schedule in the scenic locales of Darjeeling is on the cards.

Mehreen debuted with Nani's Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha where she played the role of Mahalakshmi. “I have always been known as the drama queen and I had starry eyes right from my childhood. I first walked the ramp and won the title of Kasauli Princess at the age of 10. I have grown watching Kajol and Karishma Kapoor’s films and they are my favourite. I was inspired by Anushka Sharma after Jab Tak Hai Jaan and dreamt of following her footsteps. Phillauri is a dream come true.”

Interestingly, Mehreen didn’t even know when her audition for the role happened. “I was at the production house’s office but no one asked me to audition. I was just chatting with people around, being my usual, talkative self. After a couple of days, I was asked to come to the office and finalise the details. When I was introduced to director Anshai Lal, I realised he was one of those I had chatted with earlier. Apparently, he chose me for my confidence and casualness.”

If Mehreen wasn’t in the field of glamour, she would have been a National Air Pistol shooter. “It’s my cousin’s hobby and we’ve enjoyed learning and shooting together,” she adds.

The actress is meanwhile in talks with a popular production house but nothing has been finalised yet. “I am keeping my fingers crossed,” she concludes.
