Films, actors, all have destiny: Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan on his role in the period movie Mohenjo Daro, its director Ashutosh Gowariker and former alleged girlfriend Kangana.

Bollywood’s perfect Greek God — the stunning Hrithik Roshan — appeared very humble as he answered all queries on his professional and personal life. The actor, who will be playing a farmer named Sarman in the period movie Mohenjo Daro, reveals what made him choose the role.

“I opted for Mohenjo Daro because I was eager to travel back in time. Ashutosh is a dear friend of mine and if not for him, I would have not been able to act in Jodhaa Akbar because Akbar was merely 5 feet tall. Ashutosh had first come to me with a bonded script of 200 pages, but later he reduced it to 80 pages and I couldn’t help but shake hands with him to play this character. I wish all the scripts were within 80 pages and then, I would not have had so much of a gap in my career. Well, each person and film has a destiny and this is mine. May be I can fulfill the wish of my audience by doing more films next year,” he says.

A period film obviously means a lot of pressure, and Hrithik handles it in style. “Films like Baahubali and Bajirao Mastani have set a benchmark. It is always challenging to take up these kinds of films. This perception of raising the bar in comparison with earlier films brings in challenges for you. I believe we should try to raise the bar a bit more,” he says.

With praises for his co-star Pooja Hegde, who marks her Bollywood debut with Mohenjo Daro, Hrithik says, “When we interacted professionally for the first time during our photo sessions, she had to look into my eyes romantically and I was literally taken aback. It was at that moment that I understood that she is a rare talent, a beautiful person and has very good skills as well. I have worked with many actresses, but the courage and purity I noticed in her performance made me sure that she would go a long way.”

About Ashutosh’s filmmaking style too, the actors has much to say: “I feel that all his films have the thread of romance portrayed in his own way... like in Swades and Jodhaa Akbar. There is something so romantic in this man that when he gets into that mode, his glow turns into a halo. He is incredibly inspiring. His romanticism takes you to another level. More than his instructions, the ambience created by him is so amazing that an actor has nothing much to do. Everyone who enters the theatre will take back this lovely romantic moment along with them.”

Finally, when referred to the touchy topic of his alleged former sweetheart and current foe Kangana Ranaut, Hrithik talked like a gentleman. “I have a lot to say about her, but today is not the time. It would be selfish of me to usurp this platform for my personal gains. Patience is the mother of all virtues and the truth will be out real soon.”

About not getting support from the industry on the Kangana issue, he said, “When you’re walking the path of truth, support does not matter.”
