I'm enjoying this phase immensely: Soni Razdan

Soni Razdan is thriving in her second innings in Bollywood. Her recently released war film Pippa directed by Raja Krishna Menon has garnered huge eyeballs on Amazon Prime Video and is the subject of much discussion. Soni plays a pivotal role in the film inspired by the 1971 battle of Garibpur, while Ishaan plays the real life hero Captain Balram Singh Mehta of India’s 45th Cavalry Regiment.
The actress talks of her career, her daughter and granddaughter.

On getting her second wind in films

I’m enjoying this phase thoroughly. The roles that are coming my way are the ones I always wanted to do. It feels great to play the roles that are being offered not only to me, but to other female actors. So many actors are getting to play different characters regularly. We are blessed.

On the changes

The actors of today are very good, as they come prepared. We were very bad when we started out.

On the experience of shooting Pippa

We became a family in this short time and have created fond memories. I didn’t want the shoot to get over.

On her relationship with Alia

Earlier, whenever we had chance, we would sit at the dinner table together. But we never discussed work. Alia would go with her gut feelings on that. We get very little time together now, so, that’s a challenge. When we were living in the same house we would have ample time to talk. But every morning I get a call from her. I say hello to my granddaughter. I wait for that call. Indeed, I’m a proud mother.
