Mumbai: After continuous opposition by several religious groups, on the pretext of Sanjay Leela Bhansali portraying factually incorrect history, film Padmavati is doing rounds in the news for quite some time now. So far, the film's leading actress Deepika Padukone has been promoting the most anticipated film across various platforms. Now the reports suggest that film’s other stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor will also begin the promotions this week.
Although Shahid Kapoor was always a part of Padmavati promotions, he was not seen with Deepika on any platform yet. Where as it was speculated that Ranveer Singh, who plays Alauddin Khilji in the film, wouldn't be a part of the promotions as makers wanted to avoid any negative publicity.
“The makers didn't want the promotions to be overshadowed by the hard-liners' hatred towards Khilji. So, it was decided that Ranveer would only promote the movie after it hits screens. But the marketing team has changed its decision now," says a source.
So finally, amidst all the controversies, the three lead actors of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum historical film will kickstart the film's promotions together on November 11 at Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
A trade source told, “While Deepika was seen at the Padmavati 3D trailer launch as she was asked to go by Bhansali himself to attend, Shahid and Ranveer will come together on the weekend to share a common platform for an event, to promote the film. It is again a call taken by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his creative team. The filmmaker is very clear what he wants and there’s apparently a marketing strategy. Right now three of them have been seen creating some buzz through their individual promotions but now that their dates have been sorted, the entire cast will be seen on stage together at Ahmedabad.”
Padmavati is period drama starring Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini, Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Maha Rawal Ratan Singh, along with Aditi Rao Hydari and Jim Sarbh in supporting roles. The film is based on the epic poem Padmavat (1540) by Malik Muhammad Jayasi.
The film is scheduled for release on November 30, 2017 in selected countries and on 1 December 2017, worldwide. The film will also be released in special 3D format.
