Exclusive: Trolling happens for a reason and I don't care, says Priyanka Chopra

The actress talks about various social media platforms and why she doesn't care about being trolled.

Priyanka Chopra’s latest photograph with PM Narendra Modi welcomed several comments and trolls. Priyanka, who is known to be vocal, shared her opinion on trolling in a recent interview with us. “Trolling happens for a reason, and I don’t care,” says the actress.

Recently, when she was in India to promote Baywatch, she lashed out during a media interaction session. When she was asked for her opinion on social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc., she shot back, “Sachch bolun? Tum hi log ho jo humare Twitter se photos pick karte ho (You are the ones who pick the photos we post on Twitter) and make stories out of them. And thus, it is blown out of proportion. Our fans read and see whatever we post! Kya jarurat hai uski story karne ki? (What’s the need to make a story out of it?),” she said.

She went on to add, “Look, it is simple. These social media platforms are spaces where we can post our opinion. If an opinion is posted, one can read it, and in case you have an opinion, you should respond to it. Aap log toh uski story bana lete ho (You guys instead make a story out of it). Since we have already posted our opinion, there is no need to further elaborate!”

“Having said that, I am happy that I have a huge fan following and they love me. It is because of the love of people that I wish to post my opinion. Or if there is something which I like, I share it. The love and affection from people is the reason I go ahead and remain connected to them. My parents have always allowed me to share my opinion since I was a kid. I was raised fearlessly. I was never made to feel that I could not speak my opinion. In fact, my parents have always wanted me to excel and so I like to put my best foot forward.”
