Armaan Malik opens up on love for singing in Telugu, being Rajinikanth's voice in 2.0

In a candid tte- -tte, singer Armaan Malik talks about his musical life, love for singing in South Indian films and more.

At a young age of 22, Armaan Malik has already worked with music maestro A.R. Rahman and superstar Rajinikanth in the upcoming science fiction film 2.0.

Moreover, his song from the movie, Mechanical Sundariye, has also become a big hit among youngsters. The singer, who was in the city to record a song for an upcoming Telugu film, has lent his voice for many recent Bollywood flicks such as Golmaal Returns, Tumhari Sulu and Mubarakan among several others.

Interestingly, Armaan’s mother, Jyothi, is from Hyderabad, which is why he is always excited about coming here. “I love singing in South Indian languages, especially Telugu. I previously sang Emo Emo from Katamarayudu. Now I am teaming up with Anup Rubens for an upcoming movie,” he says, adding, “I love Hyderabad and I miss being here. I always look for a reason to come back to this beautiful city.”

Talking about working with A.R. Rahman, he says, “It was always my dream to work with him. One day, his manager called and asked me to come to Chennai. I left everything and rushed there. Initially, I didn’t know that it was for 2.0. Though Rahman wasn’t there, it’s amazing to be associated with his music. The fact that I am voicing for Rajinikanth is the cherry on the cake.”

The talented singer also reveals that he’d love to work with Prabhas. “I have sung for Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn, but working with Prabhas is my dream.

He is a superstar worldwide! I would also like to lend my voice to the king of romance, Shah Rukh Khan,” mentions Armaan, who is known to have a huge female fan following. “Any guy would be thrilled about it. I love my fans and surely interact with them on social media,” he shares. Ask him if he is dating someone and he says with a laugh, “I am private about my love life!”

So who is Armaan’s favourite singer and what is his current favourite track? “My favourite singer is definitely Sonu Nigam and I am happy that I got to work with him in Mubar-akan. As for my favourite track, I am on a musical break now,” he says.

Given Armaan’s good looks, his fans often wonder whether he’d take up acting too. “I haven’t thought about it. Music will always be my first love. If I am able to do justice to the character, may be in the future I would consider acting,” he concludes.
