With movies like Badhaai Ho, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Panga, Neena Gupta has made people stand up and take notice of her. Bold and outspoken her entire life, she is now speaking up about various issues in Bollywood.
Gupta, rightly questioned, the rampant sexism in Bollywood where superstars can romance heroines 20-25 years younger to them, but actresses cannot do the same.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, she said, “Meri badi iccha hai ke woh daur aa jaye jahan main Hrithik Roshan ke against kaam karu. Against nahi opposite. (. (I really wish that the time comes when I can work opposite Hrithik Roshan). But why can’t I be opposite Shah Rukh Khan or Hrithik Roshan? I’m not saying Ranbir Kapoor. Main itni bi bewakoof nahi hu (I am not that stupid). Lekin, they work with actresses who are like 20-25 years younger than them as heroines."
She further added, “I can romance Ranbir also (laughs). But hamari country mein bahut time lagega (But, in our country it will take time).”
