Akshay Kumar, who plays the antagonist to Rajinikanth in 2.O, was in the city for its trailer and teaser launch was looking dapper cool in a formal suit. The actor enthralled the audience by starting his speech in Tamil. “I have the speech with me. It is written in Tamil. I am going to try speaking Tamil. I am sorry if my pronunciation is wrong. I have been practising for three hours”. And he also said“Vanakkam Chennai. Maghizhchi (a word Rajini used often in Kabali.)”
Switching over to English, he said he learnt a lot from Shankar and being part of 2.O. “I am so honoured to be here. I can't explain my feelings. I can't thank Shankar sir enough for the opportunity.” He went on to add, “Shankar is a scientist, not a director. I did make up for 31/2 hours and it took more than one hour to remove it. And to be frank, I have never put make up in my 28 years of film career. I just saw myself on the screen, and it was unbelievable. The whole experience is a surreal. I’m looking forward to watch the film. It was worth the pain.”
On his fitness secret he said, “I have my own gym and I work out every day there. I get up at 4 am. My dad was in the army. I am having this lifestyle from my childhood. This lifestyle isn't forced on me by my family. I loved it! I am proud to say there has never been one day when I have not seen the sunrise. I keep the consistency because I enjoy every day. My body is my temple.”
