Ranbir and I see each other but feel nothing: Rishi Kapoor

Simi Garewal shot the first episode of 'Rendezous with Simi Garewal' with Neetu and Rishi Kapoor.

Mumbai: In Melbourne, yesteryear actress Simi Garewal shot for the first episode of her popular show ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’ with the witty Rishi Kapoor and his vivacious spouse Neetu Kapoor. The couple talked at length about their ever-glorious lives together, Rishi Kapoor’s innate ability to bully and his not-so-close relationship with his superstar son Ranbir Kapoor.

While talking about his two humble children, senior Kapoor made a startling revelation about his equation with his younger child, actor Ranbir Kapoor. Mr. Kapoor said, “There’s a wall between us. There’s a glass between us. We can see each other but not feel anything. I had a fear of my father. I was in awe of him. I had great respect for him. It took him a long time to say have a drink in front of me. I used to call him sahab. Now that we don’t live under one roof, there’s more communication. He talks to his mother more than me. But I don’t think Ranbir will be a father like me."

The seasoned actor expressed his grief over missing out on quality time with his son owing to his busy film schedules. When asked about his role in Ranbir’s career, the loving father said, “I don’t watch his films. I have stopped watching his films…I become very analytical of him ki isne aiesa kyun kiya udhar kyun dekh rahaan hain, I am not following the film…that’s why I stopped watching his fims…jo hoga so hoga.”

Ranbir’s mother further revealed that he never looks into his father’s eyes while talking, out of respect.

Neetu said, “I was away for a few days and Ranbir was home. I kept calling him to ask how’re you doing. He said I’m fine, I’m having dinner with papa and all that. So when I got back, I was like how was it? He said we had a few quiet moments. He said koi baat hi nahin huyi. Hum dinners pe jaate thhe aur khana khate thhe. I have to be there in the house for a conversation to happen between them.”

When Garewal asked Rishi Kapoor to define his role as a father, the actor was at his wit’s end. Simi, who was his first co-star in ‘Mera Naam Joker’, gave him a friendly advice to go home and think about his role as a father.

While the couple openly joked about Mr. Kapoor's weight and his love for alcohol. Neetu Kapoor, who has been married to him for more than 36 years now, also admitted that it is difficult to live with him and called him a brat and a bully.
