Marriage doesn't stifle a woman's professional pursuits'

Hansika Motwani says mimicking Yogi Babu's body language was a memorable experience

Hansika Motwani, who is in Chennai for the promotion of her film Partner, opened up about her career and experiences. Her journey so far spans two decades, after she started out as a child artiste. She has featured in lead roles in over 50 films across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema. Partner has Aadhi Pinishetty as the male lead, with Yogi Babu having a significant role .
“Marriage didn’t bring about drastic changes in my life. I gained a best friend,” beams the vibrant actress, who tied the knot with Sohael Khaturiya last December.

Asserting that marriage doesn’t stifle a woman’s professional pursuits, she shares, “After marriage, I signed six films as the lead, all of which are at various stages of production.”

Discussing her unique role in Partner, Hansika says, “I was intrigued when director Manoj Damodharan approached me with this unconventional script. Partner is a rollercoaster comedy, where Aadhi and Yogi, being close friends, find themselves in an unusual predicament as Yogi Babu wakes up one day as Hansika. The narrative then chronicles the ensuing chaos.” She adds that imitating Yogi Babu’s distinct body language was a challenging but memorable feat.

In reply to a question about Udhayanidhi Stalin, with whom she collaborated for his debut venture, she says, “Our film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi was a super hit. He has ventured into politics and has become a minister. My best wishes to him.”
