San 75 buys Emergency footage from Prasar Bharti

The film, set against the Emergency in 1975, has accessed exclusive footage of the late PM Indira Gandhi urging people to stay calm.

Makers of San ’75 Pachattar, a period drama set during the Emergency in India, are doing their best to recreate the atmosphere of the 70s. The makers we hear, have bought exclusive and original footage of Indira Gandhi’s announcement during the Emergency, from broadcasting agency, Prasar Bharti.

The video footage shows then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi urging people to stay calm during the Emergency. It will be used during a song called Panic in the film.

Producer Kabir Lovee said, “Yes, we have paid a huge amount to Prasar Bharti and bought the rights of the original speeches of Indira Gandhi which are used in the film. Interestingly, this will be the first ever film which will have real speeches of any politician. In fact, the title track of the film has used her speeches as well.”

San ’75 Pachattar starring Kay Kay Menon and Parvesh Rana was earlier in the news for pushing its release date. It was earlier due to release on July 1 and claims to be the only film set during the Emergency.

Kabir added, “Mr. Advani once said in his interview that he wants someone to make a film on Emergency. I want to dedicate it to him and PM Modi. I hope they will like the film.”
