Sonali Bendre backs Tannishtha, says no more fairness cream Ads

At an event, Sonali Bendre said she would never endorse any fairness brand again.

Mumbai: In the wake of ‘Parched’ actress Tannishtha Chatterjee’s very public fallout with a comedy show, former model and actress Sonali Bendre said that it is unfair to make fun of someone’s skin tone. Sonali said: “I think making jokes about somebody’s skin tone is absolutely wrong.”

Bendre, who has worked with some of the biggest Bollywood names, had endorsed a popular fairness brand but that, she insisted, was because she was young and in need of money. “I have done a couple of fairness ads in the beginning of my career… I was young and needed money, so I didn’t really think about it. Having said that, today if I am offered, I won’t do any fairness ad again,” added the actress.

After Tannishtha spoke about her allegedly horrific experience in a comedy show wehre she was ‘roasted’for being dark, Sonali feels it is high time ‘we pondered over endorsing products stereotyping women’.

When asked about her reaction to banning Pakistani actresses, she reprtedly said Bollywood is always the soft target. She was reported as saying, “There are lot of other things that need to get sorted out. If you look at it from a business perspective, there are other businesses also. If we are stopping a business with Pakistan, then every business needs to stop. If all dealings are barred and not just film actors, I would respect that decision.”
