BC union demands dues for its students

Hyderabad: State secretary of the BC Students Union, Vemula Radhakrishna, has alleged that the state government was neglecting BC students and not reimbursing their fees on time. He said this was affecting students studying engineering, medical, MBA, and MCA courses.

While the government has increased the salaries of MLAs substantially from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh, the welfare students' mess charges were only raised marginally. The government has funds for various infrastructure projects like a new Secretariat, flyovers, and MLA camp offices, but they are not prioritising the construction of hostels for students. Radhakrishna believes that investing in student hostels is essential to prepare the future citizens of the country.

Another issue was the lack of an IAS officer in charge of BC gurukuls. Radhakrishna warned that if an IAS officer was not appointed promptly, they will protest by storming the minister's quarters.
