Reimagine education system: Experts

Hyderabad: A dialogue about reimagining the education system to better align with the demands of 21st-century students was the mainstay of Day 2 at the HPS Centenary Educators Conference. Educators discussed the potential of digital tools and online resources to enhance the learning experience.

Dr Chetan Singai, dean of School of Public and Legal Studies; chief consultant and convener, Union ministry of education, said, "Some of the critical paradigm shifts we want to see in NEP are holistic learning characterised by emotional, social, ethical, intellectual, physical capacity of students; emphasis on analytical and creative thinking rather than rote learning; integrated learning with social skills. It is time to ‘uncover syllabus’ than ‘covering syllabi.”

Pramath Raj Sinha, founding dean of Indian School of Business (ISB), said: “Excellence in education can be achieved through five broad areas: 1. How to think, 2. How to solve, 3. How to communicate, 4. How to work together and 5. How to grow.”

Day 2 saw panel discussions around topics like ‘Teacher Education, Challenges and the Way forward’; ‘Supporting Childrens’ Emotional and Mental Wellness’; and workshops which used techniques from drama and theatre to create engaging teaching-learning experiences for educators' work-lufe balance. The day concluded with exchange of ideas among educators present at the event and an enthralling musical performance by musical group Warsi Brothers.
