Kolkata: Man says he killed wife after she hacked twin sons to death

Preliminary findings indicated the attacks could have taken place due to family disputes.

Kolkata: Three members of a family were found murdered under mysterious circumstances at their flat at Palm Avenue in South Kolkata on Saturday morning near former chief minister Budhhadeb Bhattacharjee's residence.

The victims have been identified as Jesica Fonseka and her two sons, Daren and Joshua, both students of class IX. Their blood soaked bodies were found with their throats slit. Jesica's husband Nil Fonseka also suffered grievous injuries and was admitted to a hospital.

The police later questioned him and he told them his version of the story. Nil confessed to the police that he killed Jesica after she hacked their two teenaged sons to death following a quarrel between her and him after returning home in the wee hours from night-long party at a club, according to sources.

Nil told the investigators that he attacked his wife with a knife and murdered her, sources revealed.

The police however suspect that Nil was having an extra-marital affair which led to a tiff between him and Jesica.

Deputy commissioner of police (South East) Gaurav Sharma, officers of the homicide section of the Kolkata Police's detective department rushed to the spot after the triple murder came to light. The three bodies were sent for post-mortem.
