HYDERABAD: E-commerce marketplace Meesho announced that nearly 17,000 small businesses from Telangana were registered on the platform. In 2022, the platform recorded a 20 per cent increase in suppliers from the state.
“Meesho is building a robust platform to help small businesses grow and succeed online. We have observed a significant rise in the number of sellers that on-boarded on our platform from Telangana in the past year,” said Utkarsh Garg, director, business, Meesho, at an event held here on Thursday.
The categories most preferred by suppliers in the region include home and kitchen, personal care and wellness, consumer electronics and fashion. About 50 per cent of all Meesho sellers hail from tier 2+ cities. Out of its total 1.1 million sellers on the platform, more than 80 per cent are new-to-ecommerce and selling online for the first time, the company said in a release.
