Ukrainian startup wins challenge

T4I a global program from leading bank Citi encourages startups from around the world to create solutions for the public sector.

Hyderabad: Prozorro.Sale — an Ukrainian e-procurement platform for government tender backed by a central database — on Tuesday piped 18 other startups to win the Hyderabad leg of the Citi Tech for Integrity (T4I) Challenge.

T4I — a global program from leading bank Citi — encourages startups from around the world to create solutions for the public sector. Built by Transparency International Ukraine, Prozorro.Sale aims to help reduce the loss of funds during the procurement of items, according to the firm.

While India may have shifted to an e-procurement platform, the company claims that in comparison to its platform the one India uses is quite basic.

T4I India, which was supported by the ministry of electronics and information technology, the digital India foundation, and several private sector companies such as IBM, Microsoft, MasterCard, PwC, Facebook, Let’s Talk Payments and Wipro, said the T4I winners from the six demos will get an aggregate of $5.5 million worth of cash and non-cash prizes.

Meanwhile Crediwatch Information Analytics, which won the special award from the Telangana government and the Peer Choice Award for its product that verifies data, is likely to be rolled out in Telangana soon.

The Audience Choice award went to Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy for its citizen-driven reporting platform on bribery.
