Pune: Mercedes-Benz, India’s biggest German luxury carmaker, on Thursday introduced two new cars, the GLE SUV with a starting price at Rs 96.40 lakh and the AMG C 43 4Matic performance sedan at Rs 98 lakh at pan India showroom to cash in on the festive demand.

The Mercedes GLE facelift competes with luxury SUVs like the BMW X5, the Audi Q7, and the Range Rover Velar.

The Mercedes GLE facelift SUV is sold in three trims: The GLE 300d gets a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel that makes 269hp and 550 Nm, the GLE 450d gets a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel that puts out 367hp and 750 Nm and the petrol-powered GLE 450 gets a 3.0-litre engine that produces 381hp and 500 Nm. All engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and the brand’s 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

Mercedes-Benz has made subtle design changes to the GLE. The SUV gets a reworked front fascia, new design alloy wheels and a few updates to the rear end, that include redesigned LED taillights.

The model was Mercedes' second best-seller in fiscal 2023, marginally behind the GLS.

While the Mercedes GLE 300 d 4Matic and the GLE 450 4Matic will be available immediately, deliveries for the more expensive GLE 450 d will start in January 2024.

The imported AMG C 43 4Matic, the sportier version of the C Class, features a bolder exterior design featuring the signature AMG grille and more aggressive bumpers. The car is equipped with AMG-specific alloy wheels and quad exhausts.

The AMG C43 competes with the BMW M340i and the Audi S5 Sportback in the Indian market.

The AMG C43 is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine which is paired with an electric turbocharger and a 48V mild-hybrid system. It churns out 408hp and 500Nm of torque, with an additional 14hp coming from the 48V mild-hybrid system. It comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission and the 4Matic all-wheel drive system. Mercedes claims a 0-100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds.
