HCA Inter-Schools League match: Uday, Sriram, Sohail trouble rivals

Saleh, Abhinav, Dinesh, Ajay, Anoop pick five wickets to boost confidence of their respective teams.

A. Jayasuriya and Syed Ahmed had a ball of a time on Thursday as they snapped six wickets each for their respective teams in the Hyderabad Cricket Association's top division three-day league.

Bowlers Uday and Sriram came out all guns blazing as they crippled their rivals with their relentless attacks in the various leagues conducted by Hyderabad Cricket Association played in Hyderabad. In the Inter-Schools League match between Meluha International School and Neelkant Vidya Peet, Uday starred with a seven-for in the former’s 80-run-victory. Meluha unit succeeded in wrapping Neelkant Vidya Peet for 58 in 17 overs. Batting first Meluha set a chasable target of 128 as Keerthan scored 33 while Meet Patel snapped three wickets for Neelkant. Uday came up as a surprise package to hand his side a comfortable victory and turn the match into a lop-sided affair. Uday’s fine figures read 5-2-18-7.

In the Open Selection League, Team ‘J’ and Team ‘G’ had a tough fight in which the Team ‘J’ survived a scare and came up with a nine-run-win. Sriram trapped six batters of Team ‘G’ to guide his team to a thrilling victory. In the One-Day League match, Bharath CC rode on Md. Sohail Ali’s five-wicket-haul and sealed a five-wicket-victory against Natraj CC. Batting first, Natraj batsmen struggled to face Sohail and were bowled out for a meagre 75. Sohail’s tremendous bowling spell yielded him five wickets for 14 runs in 5.4 overs. B. Rajashekar was on top by scoring 47 for the Natraj side. In reply, Bharath chased down the target in 18.2 overs for the loss of five wickets in which Rajashekar snared four wickets.

In the Open Selection League match, Saleh Bin Omer of Team ‘D’ was in charge throughout his spells as he finished with fine figures of 10-4-16-5 against Team ‘A’. Despite Saleh’s five wicket haul, Team ‘D’ went down to their rivals. Dinesh of Team ‘A’ also picked five wickets but played a pivotal role in leading his team to a 75-run win. Batting first Team ‘A’ set a target of 132 while their rivals were bowled out for a mere 57 making the match a lop-sided affair. In the Inter-Schools League match, Johnson Grammar High School rode on Anoop’s five wicket haul to seal a thrilling two-wicket victory against Hyderabad School of Excellence. The latter were all out for 181 in 39.4 overs as Anoop turned on the heat. In reply, Johnson’s side finished the match with two wickets in hand. Abhinav of Hyderabad School of Excellence snapped five wickets while conceding 30 runs. His figures read 10-0-30-5.
