Hyderabad Metro Rail route needs 2,078 security staff
At present, 546 personnel from experienced security agencies have been posted to the 24 stations being inaugurated.
Hyderabad: A total of 2,078 security personnel are required along the entire 72-km of the Metro Rail network. At present, 546 personnel from experienced security agencies have been posted to the 24 stations being inaugurated.
The total requirement of over 2,000 security staff has been arrived at by DGP Mahendar Reddy, DGP T. Krishna Prasad, and N.V.S. Reddy, the managing director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd. This number includes police officials, home guards, private security guards and special police officers to be deployed by HMRL.
A deputy commissioner of police, an additional DCP, two assistant commissioners of police and four inspectors will supervise the security staff. Their office will be located at Metro Rail Bhavan. Metro Rail police stations will be set up at Ameerpet and Parade Ground interchanging stations.
To meet immediate requirements, the HMRL has requested Director-General of Police M. Mahendar Reddy to supply experienced security guards. Chief Secretary S.P. Singh has emphasised on the adoption of a commuter-friendly attitude to ensure that the public is not inconvenienced.
Other components of the security system, including a quick response team, a bomb disposal squad, and a dog squad are expected to be included over the course of the coming year. L&T Metro Rail has already installed sophisticated CCTV cameras, baggage scanners, door frames and metal detectors to check passengers and their baggage at Metro stations.
