Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP unit president Basant Panda was on Monday threatened by two youths at gunpoint at the party headquarters here. The duo, identified as Pinak Mohanty and Sambit Panda of Barang area here, who claimed themselves as BJP party workers, entered the office and threatened Mr Panda showing him with guns. However, speaking to media persons, one of them said that it was a toy gun. Police soon detained the two for interrogation and later arrested them.

Meanwhile, Mr Panda said, “The two youths had on Sunday come to the office seeking help for treatment of one of their kin. I had told them to come with documents. However, they came today and threatened me with two guns without holding discussion about the help they had sought earlier." Mr Panda also said the two are not BJP workers, in contradiction to what they were claiming. “Someone might have staged the whole act intentionally,” he added.
