Vijayawada: Glucose repacking unit without licence sealed

Task Force ACP Prasad said that 27 bags of raw glucose powder was seized.

Vijayawada: The city police commissioner's Task Force,  along with the food safety officials, on Thursday, raided pharmacies and medical manufacturing units in I Town and seized adulterated glucose powder and castor oil. According to Task Force police, Sri Anjaneya Medicals and Swastik Products in I Town area in the city were manufacturing adulterated glucose powder and packing it in packets similar to those of branded ones.

Tadepalli Tukaram and his son, Tadepalli Arun Kumar, have been running a medical manufacturing unit and repacking glucose powder in packets similar to those of a few renowned multinational brands. Task Force ACP Prasad said that 27 bags of raw glucose powder was seized and that Tukaram doesn't have any valid manufacturing licence. He said they have registered a case and arrested the father-son duo.

Food Safety and Standards Authority official A. Purnachandra Rao inspected the unit and said that the vendor doesn't have a valid manufacturing and repacking licence and that they have sealed the unit and sent samples for tests.
